Lessons

Lessons are 50 minutes, with 5 minutes at the end for feedback, and the option for short daily practice exercises given to keep learning fresh between sessions. The cost is £43 per session, or £410 for a block of 10 sessions. In line with best practise, four key principles underpin the lessons’ approach.

  • Explicit

Learning is explained, demonstrated, practised and reinforced. Foundational reading and spelling skills are taught explicitly and systematically, at your child’s pace. From distinguishing and manipulating sounds to developing sound–letter correspondences and learning complex spelling patterns, teaching combines clear modelling, repeated rehearsal and plenty of opportunity to apply new skills through engaging games and multi-sensory activities. Learners are not expected to guess or pick up patterns incidentally.

  • Cumulative

Skills are taught in a clear sequence, building from what the learner already knows towards what they need to learn next. Learning goals are created with consideration of the child’s and parents’ priorities and clear plan of logical small steps is shared and reviewed termly. Each session reviews prior learning and new concepts are introduced gradually.

  • Structured

Learners feel confident as they review, learn new skills, practise and work independently. Each session follows a clear and consistent routine, so the learner knows what to expect and can focus on the learning.

  • Adapted

Teaching is tailored to how your child learns best. Dyslexia affects everyone differently. The pace, level of support, activities and teaching methods are according to the learner’s strengths, difficulties and progress, ensuring they are appropriately challenged without feeling overwhelmed.
